Well, this was fun. Not sure where it all fits in with the timeline, but Dick seems to be back to his chipper self and appears to be enjoying spending a little quality time with his friend, Wally. The original Wally. Talk about confusing; there are two Wallys running about the Rebirth DCverse. Weird!

This is an exciting, action-packed and puntastic issue featuring a well-loved duo. My only issue with it was that, when Wally and Dick decide to relax and hit a bar, the writers don't allow them to talk and catch up. They've hardly sat down when two conventionally attractive girls come over to talk to them. Then the two of them are trying to get each other to go to the girls? Then Wally keeps talking about someone called Linda (I'm not well-versed with DC romances). Like... can't two friends just sit together and shoot the breeze? Does it have to be about girls?

This is what I don't get about the Nightwing writers - they can't seem to extricate his character from pre-conceived (and outdated) chauvinism. Nightwing, at least, is highly respectful to women (so far in the Rebirth series), but he can't seem to hold a conversation with them without the writers implying there is an ulterior motive to it all.

Nightwing is a great character and I'd love to read more of him. The writers just need to do right by him in every panel.
