Book Review - Civil War: Confession

Civil War: ConfessionCivil War: Confession by Brian Michael Bendis
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Well, as confessions go, this is hardly the most shocking, however, it was quite a read! We don't see who the confession is being made to, not until the very end (though, one can easily guess). While there are plenty of comic book-like analogies provided here, the overall monologue is both powerful and moving. The sentiment, genuine.

The actual confession is just one line - one of remorse and regret, made in response to a question that the questioner will never hear.

The second half of the comic deals with the lead up to that question, and just adds to the impact of the answer.

If your eyes get misty reading this, one can hardly blame you; all sympathies are geared towards that lasting impact of just a few words. What a fantastic way to end an incredible comic book series.
